Romans 10:13-17 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
I was saved at the age of fourteen in March of 2001. I had been going to church for the previous two years and before went forward in an invitation but did not remember very much from it. My youth pastor at the time, who will also be my best man in my wedding coming up, came over to my house to share the Gospel with my Father. I can remember Pastor Henry going through the plan of salvation with my Dad and racing through my mind were the thoughts that I had never truly accepted Christ. Unfortunately my Dad did not get saved that day, and is still not saved, so if you would please pray for him to accept Christ, but right when Pastor Henry walked out that door I made a straight shot for my bedroom got on my knees and accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior.
As I look back now I really appreciated Pastor Henry coming over and sharing the Gospel with my family and me. What Pastor Henry did that day was fulfill verse 14 to me, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” Pastor Henry is a preacher but in our context here preacher is not necessarily referring to a pastor or an evangelist but to those who would proclaim the Gospel. Who is that proclaimer of the Gospel supposed to be? Well let us start with the one reading this devotional right now, you! God’s desire for us all is to go out and share the Gospel with all those around us. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Who do you know that needs the Gospel? I am pretty sure we can all think of someone we can all share it with. Who is going to be that preacher they need. How shall they hear? I am glad someone told me and if you are saved as a result of someone telling you then I am sure you are glad too. Let us strive to be the proclaimer of the Gospel the people around us need. Let us strive to be that preacher this world needs.
