As you point out, Pastor Mike, today's passage is much deeper than most people think. It is a wonderful verse to take the time to ponder. Let us go to a quiet place with this verse, and invite our hearts and minds to reflect upon the deep meaning that the Holy Spirit wants us to learn. Thank you for giving us a nudge to do just that.

We try to also use the "presence gauge" of Jesus Himself: "Would I do this thing if Jesus was visibly sitting right next to me?" His Spirit is, after all, right here inside of us believers. Another challenging gauge that helps us is: "Would I want to be doing this, if Jesus came back at this very moment to take us to Heaven?" We miss Hawaii and send everyone our aloha from Virginia

Luke 24:44-48 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.

We heard from Pastor Jon Jackson this past Sunday a message entitled, “It’s All About Jesus” and the fact is, it is truly indeed all about Him. Our passage here in the book of Luke 24:44 reads, “And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.” Everything in the Old Testament that Christ is referring to here in our verse points to the coming Messiah. The Law of Moses shows us our personal need for the Savior, the books of the prophets prophecy of the coming Messiah, and the Psalms tells of the excellence of the coming Messiah. It is truly all about Jesus; from front to back of our Bible its all about Jesus and because it is all about Him, He desires us to go out and to tell everyone about Him.

As Christ was teaching the Disciples, He was helping them to understand the Old Testament with these words, “Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.” You may not have a doctorate degree in Theology or know how to debate every topic there is to debate on the Bible, but you will have a much better understanding of God’s Word if you are the one witnessing than those who have head knowledge but do nothing with it. Notice here that Christ doesn’t teach all the genealogies or discuss doctrine with the Disciples, instead He simply says, “repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations.” Christ does this so that the Disciples might understand the scriptures.

Christ desires for us to go out and to tell all about His love for them. As a preacher, I desire to know all the doctrine I can, to memorize as much Scripture as I can, to become the best presenter of God’s Word that I can, but if I never share Christ with others than I truly do not have a understanding of any of it. How about you? Is it all just head knowledge for you? Is your Bible just a text book to you or is it also a manual to reach the lost. May we all apply the Bible to our lives and go out and share it with all.

Love you all!!!

Pastor Mike
