Mathew 16:24-27 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Not everyone is called to the Mission Field or into what we call a “full-time” position of serving the Lord, but we are all called to be full-time Christians, living for the Lord. I tell the staff that they are not working until they have done everything that we expect the average Christian to do. We expect the “average” Christian to be in church four times a week, Sunday School, Sunday Morning, Sunday Night and Wednesday Night. I do not pay laymen to come to church and I do not pay the staff to come to church. We expect the “average” Christian to go out soul-winning and on visitation every week. Our full-time staff is not paid for the first hour to hour and a half of soul-winning time. We expect the “average” Christian to be involved in a ministry of some kind, so staff should b involved in ministry to, without pay. Full-time Christians should be full-time Christians for free! The blessing for us is that we get paid to do this all of the time.
Are you willing to go into full-time ministry if God were to call you? What God wants from us is a willing heart and mind to serve Him. II Corinthians 8:12 says “For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.” There should be a time in every Christian’s life when we are willing to say as the song goes:
It may not be on the mountain’s height, or over the stormy sea;
It may not be at the battle’s front my Lord will have need of me;
But if by a still, small voice He calls to paths I do not know,
I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in Yours,
I’ll go where You want me to go.
Refrain: I’ll go where You want me to go, dear Lord,
O’er mountain, or plain, or sea;
I’ll say what You want me to say, dear Lord,
I’ll be what You want me to be.
Perhaps today there are loving words which Jesus would have me speak;
There may be now, in the paths of sin, some wand’rer whom I should seek.
O Savior, if You will be my Guide, though dark and rugged the way,
My voice shall echo the message sweet,
I’ll say what You want me to say.
Refrain
There’s surely somewhere a lowly place in earth’s harvest fields so wide,
Where I may labor through life’s short day for Jesus, the Crucified.
So, trusting my all unto Your care, I know You always love me!
I’ll do Your will with a heart sincere,
I’ll be what You want me to be.
Aloha in Christ,
Pastor Wayne
