Romans 1:8-17 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
The Bible commands every born again believer to “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15). It is never an option but a command and one that we must obey. Here we see Paul, who used to persecute Christian for preaching the gospel, obeyed this command because he felt that he owed it to everyone. He said in verse 15 “I am a debtor both to Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.” Paul cannot help it but to preach the gospel because he knew that it is the power of God unto salvation. He was always ready to preach it whenever and wherever he was at. It is no mistake that he encouraged young Timothy to do the same. In II Tim. 4:2 it says “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and doctrine.” He made it a priority in his life to preach God’s word. He believed that if the gospel can changed his own life (which by our standards was worst than some of us when we were still unsaved) then it can change anyone who believes it. He said verse 16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jews first, and also to the Greek.”
Like Paul, we as Christians should do the same. We should not be ashamed to share the gospel of Christ to the lost and dying world. We were once lost but now we are found by the same gospel that changed Paul’s life. It is truly the power of God unto salvation so let us preach or share it! It is every believer’s job to share God’s word to the lost. Are you doing your job? How many of the lost that you have lifted? How many of the chained you have helped set free?
