As you point out, Pastor Mike, today's passage is much deeper than most people think. It is a wonderful verse to take the time to ponder. Let us go to a quiet place with this verse, and invite our hearts and minds to reflect upon the deep meaning that the Holy Spirit wants us to learn. Thank you for giving us a nudge to do just that.

We try to also use the "presence gauge" of Jesus Himself: "Would I do this thing if Jesus was visibly sitting right next to me?" His Spirit is, after all, right here inside of us believers. Another challenging gauge that helps us is: "Would I want to be doing this, if Jesus came back at this very moment to take us to Heaven?" We miss Hawaii and send everyone our aloha from Virginia

Isaiah 55:1-13 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee. Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

Whenever a problem arises do you ever try and analyze it? I am not one to look deeply into things all the time but I know there are those who analyze to the very core of things in life. Every once in a while I will just have to sit back sometimes and ask God why? There are a lot of things we can look up to God and ask why about. Why does so and so have this problem or why did this or that happen. For instance; why did Haiti have an earthquake killing thousands, why did 9/11 occur killing thousands, or why did Pastor Anter’s sister pass away at the age of 27? Why, why, why? Sure we say people die because of the existence of sin or it gave Pastor Anter an opportunity to preach the Gospel to people who would have never heard otherwise. Well, we may never come up with a definite answer but I believe we have all the answers we need according to our passage.

In verses 8 and 9 or our passage we read, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” The answers to life’s occurrences are in the hands of a God whose plans are much better than our plans are and whose purposes are far better than we could ever imagine. I love I Corinthians 2:9 where it says, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” We may not know what God is exactly preparing for His children but we can be rest assured it is something we cannot even fathom because the goodness of God far outweighs our human comprehension.

God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Though we may not understand we can take God at His Word when He says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” God has nothing but good intentions for all of us. We can all trust in God’s love. Do not know the answer to life’s struggles just remember whose in control.

Love you all!!!
Pastor Mike
