II Timothy 3:10-17 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Our devotion today speaks about how we should live, act and react as Christians in the midst of trials and persecutions. Verses 10-14 clearly states that we as Christians will suffer persecutions. Someone once said that it is easy to become a Christian, because our Lord Jesus Christ already paid it all on the cross but it is difficult to live as a Christian and follow all his commands. People are always watching and observing all that we do and say. They ridicule and persecute us but Matthew 5:12 says “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”
Therefore, I encourage and challenge you not to give up, do not run away from God’s will, and continue to serve him. If you are experiencing persecution, just keep on; God knows what is going on. Remember that we are God’s workmanship. These trials and persecution are only temporary. Furthermore, we need to consider that these are part of the process of becoming what God intends in our lives.
May God use our difficulties to transform us: to burn away the ugliness and unnecessary clutter, to strengthen us, to reveal our beauty, to mature us and help make us whole. When all of these are done, we will have complete fellowship with the Lord. James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”
