As you point out, Pastor Mike, today's passage is much deeper than most people think. It is a wonderful verse to take the time to ponder. Let us go to a quiet place with this verse, and invite our hearts and minds to reflect upon the deep meaning that the Holy Spirit wants us to learn. Thank you for giving us a nudge to do just that.

We try to also use the "presence gauge" of Jesus Himself: "Would I do this thing if Jesus was visibly sitting right next to me?" His Spirit is, after all, right here inside of us believers. Another challenging gauge that helps us is: "Would I want to be doing this, if Jesus came back at this very moment to take us to Heaven?" We miss Hawaii and send everyone our aloha from Virginia

II Timothy 2:24-26 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Have you ever talked to someone while out on visitation, or perhaps at work or wherever, about clear Bible truth such as salvation by grace through faith, baptism, church attendance, etc…and they refuse to accept it. It is very frustrating whenever you talk to them, and they are so stuck in their ways for no legitimate reason. You show them from the Bible the clear teachings of God, but they ignore it, and it makes you just want to whack them upside the head so that they’ll see the truth. Those kind of people got lucky whenever I was dealing with them, because in verse 24 and 25 of our passage it says, “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves.”
God desires for us to deal lovingly with those who oppose the truth as those who opposed Timothy when he was teaching the truth. It is so easy to get in the flesh whenever someone opposes us though we have the Truth, but that is just what Satan wants of us. Satan knows that if he can get us out of walking in the Spirit, by default, we will be walking in the flesh. Anytime we walk in the flesh, we are no longer walking in the image of Christ but in the image of Satan. When dealing with others, be gentle, have understanding, be patient, and humble. You can shove the Truth down others throats, or you can serve it on a nice silver platter. Which one would you choose whenever you were first saved or growing in Christ?
By teaching and sharing God’s truth His way the Bible says, “God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth, And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil.” God has the power to show even the most ignorant or stubborn of men the truth and can change their heart. It is so vital that even in the spiritual battlefield we remain walking in the Spirit and in love.

Love you all!

Pastor Mike
