In honor of Presidents' Day
Who Makes the Church History?
We celebrated our 24th Anniversary on October 3rd and began our 25th year on
October 4th! Anniversaries should be days when we look back to the past and
remember all of the blessings of God, but we should also look ahead to the
future and what God is going to do in the years to come.
God has been good to us at Ohana! We have had thousands of people come
through this church over the years. Many have gotten saved and others have
seen their lives changed through this ministry. We look back over the years
and praise God for the people that He has brought into our lives through
Ohana. Each one is a part of our story and many have left their mark on this
church.
When Diane and I talk about years past we don't use numbers like "Do you
remember in 1994?" or "Remember back in 2004?" Our memories are all based in
people; "Do you remember when Snyders were here?" or "Remember when Parishes
were in the church?" There are certain people and families that had such an
impact upon the church that they became the identity of the church during
those years.
We were looking through some old directories and read some names that we
couldn't remember. There was one family whose name was printed in three
years worth of directories and yet we could not figure out who they were!
That may be because we are getting old and senile or maybe it is because
those individuals made no difference in their time here. Right now you are
writing the history of your church, how or will you be remembered?
