God’s Timing
Those of you who regularly check our web site know that it has been a long
time since I have updated the Pastor's Pen. I could use the excuse that I
have been busy with the new building, and I have been! We have been working
16+ hours a day since December 1st! I am finally getting a chance to catch
up on all of my paperwork. That is my excuse, but the truth is I am a
procrastinator. Things like the Pastor's Pen, are easy to keep putting off
for a better day - It's just that the better day never comes!
I am glad that God is not a procrastinator. His timing is always perfect. It
didn't seem like that over these past three years. There were many times
that I was frustrated and upset with God (kind of like the web-master gets
with me when I am late with things like this Pastor's Pen). God however was
not late. He is never late. We can see now, that His timing is perfect. He
always does everything in "the fulness of the time" (Galatians 4:4).
We can see this with our new building and God's timing in providing it. We
had been searching for a new location for the church for three years. It was
a very frustrating process. Hawaii has a very tight commercial real estate
market (after all, there is not much land available on an island like this),
so it was hard to find property that was big enough for the church yet
affordable. Every time we thought we found something, it would fall through
for one reason or another. We were down to six months left on our old lease
with no prospects of a place to move to. "Where was God? Was He even aware
of our need? What was He waiting for?" God knew what we didn't know, that
the economy was about to take a major turn which would drastically change
the real estate market here.
We were able to buy 6 million dollars worth of buildings for $665,000 and
spend $4000 to $6000 less per month than we were on our old lease! We have
better facilities, more space and new opportunities here. We have had more
visitors than in previous months and people saved in every service. No, God
is never late and His timing is always perfect!
